Chan Chan

Chan Chan, from the muchik Na-Cham that means “house of the serpent” or also it can be considered the translation from Jean-Jean in the Chimú language that means “sun”; it is a pre-Columbian metropolis of the Chimú empire, built in the North coast of Peru, it is located at the moment in the northwest of Trujillo city between the districts of Trujillo and Huanchaco.

Chan Chan locks up in itself an ancestral, mystical and full world of history. Being in Chan Chan those mysteries about their old beliefs  are perceived, sacred cults that by the time is passing they are lost, but  little by little are being revealed by the archeology, like for example the cult that they rendered to the Water or the Sea; we can appreciate the iconography of the murals of the Tschudi Palace. Chan Chan is a city of about 18 km.2 , it has been calculated a population of 200.000 thousand people.
